My first suggestion is to make sure you have a physical that includes complete blood work and a male hormone panel. Want to see where your free and total testosterone levels are. Odds are that now you are approaching 40, you may have a more difficult time getting your levels back after PCT. Something to think about meaning if you ran 12-16 weeks, you could wind up not recovering and then going on HRT permanently.
It sounds as if you have an idea of what to do, but I will break it down in short:
1. Protein and quality fats make all the difference in gaining muscle mass on cycle successfully. At your weight and age, 30g of protein per meal 6x per day. If you feel you need another meal, add in a protein shake and peanut butter.
2. Training. Getting older means you need to be diligent about what exercises you are doing and how often you train. Foundation lifts like bench, squat, deadlift and overhead press are what build muscle and develop strength. Barbell curls and crunches are not the answer. Training 4-5 days per week and train your weakest body-part at the beginning of the week.
3. Cycle. Stick with what you know. Test and Deca are great. I would also make sure your blood pressure remains sable. If you feel puffy or bloated, adding 2mg of Hydrochorothiazide (HCTZ) every other day will help keep your water weight in check. lastly, getting older means our organs are aged more so than when we were 20. Instead of Deca, I would use its equally potent but much friendlier cousin Nandralone Phenylpropionate (NPP). All the power, strength and size building without the bloating and water retention.
Week 1-2 250mg 1x per week Test Enanthate
Week 3-11 400mg 1x per week Test Enanthate
Week 3-10 200mg 1x per week Nandralone Phenylpropionate (NPP).
Week 3-12 0.5mg EOD Arimidex
Week 11-12 250mg 1x per week Test Enanthate
Week 12-16 50mg ED Nolvadex.
Can you add an oral to this? Sure, but orals and 40 are not high on my likability factor. Liver, water retention, gastric issues all really seem to be more pronounced as we get older. I used to be able to take ridiculous doses of Anadrol 50 back in the day. Now, if it is in the same room as I am I get heartburn!
